Fall has Arrived in My Home

Welcome everyone!

I am later than I usually am this year in
decorating my home for Fall.

A huge reason I am so far behind is...
once we got my daughter settled in her sorority
new home for her Senior year,
for some reason I decided I needed to
purge and organize!
Can anyone relate?

I have also made huge strides, even in the midst
of a horrid tooth issue, antibiotics and finally
a tooth extraction.  Gladly, I am on the mend.

So lets get those pictures rolling...

Fall in my home comes to mainly our main
living areas, kitchen, entry and family.
These rooms blend well with the colors of
fall that I have chosen in reds, golds, caramels
and some yellows.

 WELCOME!

Our entry Hall tree is so much fun for
me to deck out in any season!

Then you will head straight through to our bright and
difficult to picture family room.
I really think my camera is acting up...ugh!

My Favorite area of all to decorate is our fireplace.
This year I decided to bring out all of my scarecrows
and add them to the base around the fireplace opening.

It just feels so feastive!

When I decorate for the different seasons I have
always been big on using more loose
items like, greens, leaves, fruits, veggies etc.
that I can create arrangments from.
I never seem to do the same thing twice...
but that must be the artist in me, I think :)

Now in my Kitchen area I mainly prettied up our
eating area table, that we hardly ever eat at!

Again, using what I have and my Mikasa Stoneware
that I got 27 years ago as a wedding gift I crafted what
I think is a fun table scape!
The chairs have a pretty fallish
fabric cover that blends so well with everything.
My pretty fall center piece uses more
 loose smaller pumkins/fruit
around plates of candles and then my
sweet painted Pumpkin.

More simple displays that are around my kitchen area.

Now my home has that cozy warm
feeling that Fall seems to bring!

Happy Fall Y'all!

YoYo Pumpkins Tutorial (Recycling Old Sweaters)

It certainly is feeling like fall here in Michigan.
With that in mind, I wanted to share this
simple and easy way to make those darling
Pumpkins you see all over blogland, Pinterest and
on the web.

Here you see a few I have already made, a few years ago.

Lets Get Started with your Supplies:

Fabric/Sweaters
Batting
Sticks (you can get from nature)
Needle/Thread ( I use a thicker crochet thread)
Raffia, leaves, ribbons
 or other embellishments
Plates
(Varying sizes to use for pattern)
Glue Gun

Gather your fabrics and sweaters and supplies all
together.
For my pattern,
I already had some circles cut up, I used these fabric
rounds as my pattern for the sweaters I show below.

For your circles use the different sizes of plates
you have gathered.
I used a saucer, salad plate,
and large plate for mine to have a more
varied size of circles.
Begin cutting your circles.
Side note:
Hubs and I did a MAJOR closet clean out and when I
was folding everything,
I grab these two sweaters due to their colors.
Such a great way to recycle or upcycle
old clothing.
I also cut off the arms for a
later project idea I have.

See my stack?
I am planning on making quite a few as I
sit and watch football with my family this weekend!
lol

So now your circles are cut lets begin sewing them.

1. Thread your Needle and begin a BASTING stitch around
the top 1/3 -1/2 inch.
You will baste stitch all around the circle.
I pull the thread as I go
and gather or create a hole.
2.  Now you have a circle complete with the mouth open
3. Fill with batting and tighten your thread.
4. Cinch and Sew up to secure, place stem in center
and then glue this all together and embellish

You can now embellish like I did with raffia, leaves
or even make varying sizes of pumpkins to stack
on top of each other.
Some people even fill these really tight and then
wrap with jute/rope to mimic real pumpkins.

The fun is using your imagination and creating
something just for you!
There is no right or wrong way to do these.

I have placed a few by the sweet lil Clay Scarecrows
I have made...tutorial is HERE.

Mr. Tiger has been having a blast with these!
I think there is something about the raffia that
is attracting him.  He will grab, claw at and
toss them all over, it is soooo funny to watch!

I would so love to hear from you if you give these a try!
Do you have other ways or ideas of how these can be used!
I would love to know!

I even made some up in Shabby pinks,
blue and greens!

Be Blessed!

Catching Ya'll Up!

Hi Everyone!
Well, I certainly have been MIA
for most of the month of May!
But...it is all good!
My sweet hubby purchased a ticket to Jacksonville
for me, all by myself, so I could meet up with
my sister Marci who has a home there.
We had wonderful sister time, even in the
midst of the worst 3 days of down pouring rain
I have EVER seen.
But that didn't deter us from beaching, shopping, visiting
and just plain talking!!
It was a much a needed, much appreciated, break from
 the humdrums of my life!
But,
I did manage to get a whopper of a
bladder infection on my return and
spent the past few weeks trying to recoup while
entertaining my mom and dad.  They took an almost
3 week tour of the East Coast.
Visiting my sis in Jacksonville as I left.
Then up to South Carolina to see my dad's family there.
And finishing up their visit here with us in
Michigan for 7 days before their return
to Seattle.
So...
I am back in saddle and actually spent some time
today in my lil studio!
Yay me!
I so appreciate feeling better
and be able to create once again!
I whipped up this darling LOVE sign and
got it listed today in my etsy shop.
Along with these darling canisters that I had
finished but never got listed!

It is truly good to be home and back
doing what I love...creating!

How are you all doing!
I'd love to hear!

Be Blessed!

Shabby ~ FruFru ~ Upcycling

Hello My Sweet Friends!!!

Oh gosh, I didn't realized how much time has gone by
and I have not been here to blog about what is going
on in my life.  I guess I have been so busy creating
that the time was all spent! lol
I do so apologize!

Anyway, we all know that I create in the
shabby, chic, romantic anything roses realm!
In my heart of hearts I have ALWAYS loved to
upcycle and create unusual items.
That would be exactly what I have been doing
this past month.

Below I am sharing pictures of items that I have
put together and upcycling individual items into
shabby chic pieces of art.

Starting with pretty frufru Pillar Candle Holders
Many of my Pillar Candle Holders were just that
simple, plain pieces that needed a touch more done to them.
So, I added color to the bases and
then atop each base I added pretty castoff plates or
saucers that had lost their mates.

I didn't stop there though,  this is where the real fun
began.  Going through my collection of pretty
laces and ribbons I then began to frufru pillar holder.
Some were even given pretty crystals too.

The piece below show how you can combine found
objects, like these smaller milk glass bowls.  They
were glued together and a sweet hand painted
vintage plate was added.

The thrift stores, yard/garage sales are full of theses
type of pieces.  Now when you shop, begin
thinking outside the box of how you can add
pieces together.
I didn't stop there.  I have created jars that are taller by
added candle bases.  Below you can see that I also frufru'd
many jars/bottles that would have otherwise been thrown
out.

Would you believe the brown bottle is a bath and
body works lotion bottle? See, using anything you many
have, that you would otherwise have thrown away!

DON'T throw out those old bottles with out lids or
candy jars...reuse, recycle and create unique
one of a kind items, using your imagination!
Originally, I had just painted these twisted wire sconces.
But after frufruing up so many other pieces, I realized that
these looked quite plain...so they got a frufru'd too.
Pretty laces, ribbons and I made lacy roses...
so pretty and shabby chic now!

I am encouraging you today to THINK Outside the Box.

Many of my glass pieces were just sitting, waiting for me
to do something to them.  Once the creativity began,
nothing was left just plain, lol.

Go out and Create/Upcycle/Reuse your items!

Be Blessed
