SUNDAY ~ Show N Tell

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY EVERYONE!

Show N Tell Sunday

I JUST love Show N Tell Sundays...and again this week we are sharing with our Blogland viewers our Favorite(s) Flea Market Finds. Our Hostess Heidi of Birds of a Feather...has been gracious to name and host this weeks event...THANK YOU Heidi!

For me there is never just one. Now I really don't have any Flea Markets near me, but I have some wonderful thrifting places I attend regularly along with a wonderful place in Ann Arbor, Michigan called Treasure Mart! Many of my finds are usually for me to repurpose and paint roses on. But I do find wonderful things to incorporate into my home as well!

I decided to go through my master bedroom/bath areas and show you some of my treasured finds and how I have used them.... so here goes!

Oh..for those who are watching my Craft Room Redo...here's another sneak peek at 2 pieces that I have created a hutch out of...neither came together, but these were pieces that I have painted to match. The 60's buffet was given bun feed and a coat of heirloom white..$35, the top was a shelf that also was painted and I got it for $30.
Isn't this the most beautiful sham...I have a set on my bed...$5 for both!
OH My Goodness....this find is right at the top for me...a vintage flour sack quilt was snagged for $12.95...and to think I almost did not buy it! It graces the end of my bed right now.
I wanted you to see that the pale yellow chenille rose pattern spread on my bed, snagged for $3...the quilted shaby the sweet chenille bunny is leaning on was $5 in the clearance at Marshalls!
My sweet friend Rhea let me borrow her idea of taking a vintage spoon holder and turning it into a hankie holder...I just love the vintage hankies...many were anywhere from .50c - $3...I just had to have places to show them...
This rack was a trash pick and I painted it creamy white and then drapped more of my vintage hankie collection over it.
These are a collection of vintage pillowcases...many with the crocheted edging...some where from my sweet grams who is now 94 and still knitting! But I have also picked many up from sales and thrifting too.
Oh I just HAD to have this lamp. It was from Treasure Mart $10...and the rose artist in me was not leaving with out it! It resides by my side of the bed!
I snagged this Lady Head vase at the Salv Army for $2.99! The vintage handpainted hair holder is something I cannot remember where I got but I am sure the price was right! The mannequin I painted and added the base and top to...now she holds some necklaces!
Boxes...I have a thing for boxes...many of these were picked up for nothing..and I just love how they all go together...I also repurposed this vase, which was originally a peach color I painted it pink and added pink roses to it. CHIC!

The piece above and below were just given to me...I have added roses and one in my sitting area in my master bedroom and the other resides by my side of the dressing area in my vanity. A wonderful repurpose of an old kitchen cup holder...holds my bracelets! And more collected heart shaped boxes.
This is the last piece...I have so many more...but there others for you to visit! I have taken a garage sale picture frame and painted it white. Covered a sturdy piece of cardboard with batting then hot glued it all together with this pink moire fabric to house my pins and fancy rhinestone necklaces! Great craft projects and very easy to do!
Thanks for stopping by..hope you enjoying my many finds and how I have used them...have a blessed day!

HELP Katie Name Her Chicken Friend

My Friend KATIE of Rose Breeze Boutique is wanting some help from her friends in Blogland. You see Katie lives in Nevada and has the most wonderful friends...kitties, chickens, roosters, goats, doves, Peacocks...and I know so much more. But she is having trouble naming her black/white chicken...so its up to us to help her! Be sure to stop by her blog and leave a comment to help her out. I'd so appreciate it...thanks!

Katies says..."normally the chickens end up with names that just come to us. But, this striking black and white hen is the one I cannot seem to come up with a name for! I would like something that relates to black and white, I thought about a piano manufacturer name for instance but can't think of the names!"

Blessings....Lorena

1. What was I doing 10 years ago?

10 years ago my daughter was 6 and in 1st grade. I WOULD LOVE YOUR HELP!

The picture above is of 2 items I am using in my new craft room. The vintage desk was already painted in a shabby crisp white. Now behind this you can see a corner shelf that I have painting in heirloom white...a tad creamier in color. All my other pieces that I am doing for this room will be in the creamy heirloom white.

MY Question to you all...should I paint the white desk to match everything else? or do you think it will be fine white....I want to do it now, while I am doing everything else, cause once I set my room up, I may not have the opportunity to paint it.

Please fill out my Poll that I have done...I'd really appreciate the help! THANKS!!!

Below are some pieces that I have just finished today. The small bookcase below was snatched up at a garage sale for $3!!!

This is vintage 1960's buffet. I bought this many moons ago, from my mom. It was a beautiful walnut piece, but just does not fit anthing I have...I wanted to create a hutch with this adding an old bookcase, that fits just perfectly on top. I had my hubby add bun feet and took off tapered original feet. When this is set up in my room I will make sure you see it!
Top for the buftet piece I have above!
I still need another coat of paint to cover the pale mint green the insides used to be....but I am finally making so more progress in getting things ready for my new room...I am off to go put a light covering overing my primed areas on the wall so we can paint everything.

Hugs...Lorena

WELCOME TO MY FRONT *Porch* (Of Sorts)

SUMMER PORCH PARTY ~ Please be sure to take a peek at all of the lovely porches from all over the world. Rhondi of Rose Colored Glasses is hosting this wonderful event today. Take a peek at her blog cause she has the list of participants! ENJOY and have a blessed thankful Thursday!

WELCOME EVERYONE!

When I had seen that there was a sharing of your Front Porches...I really wasn't sure I'd do it. You see, I don't really have a porch. But...I decided that I would go ahead and show you the pretty walk up to my front door, which has a very small area that I always decorate seasonally.

Isn't this the most beautiful Japanese Maple? My poor flox just got pounded on and it doesn't seem to want to come out fully.
Some more of the greens and yellow assylm that line our walkway.
As you approach the steps, you can see the pretty deep maroon door and shutters...I just love 'em! Okay, I am dating myself...but I have had the PeaCock Chair since hmmm the early 80's. My then boyfriend, but now hubby bought that for me way back when...and last year I finally brought it out of the basement to display it or have a place to sit in the summer time.

I just love the domed window above the door...
Our door is opened to all of my blogland friends...come on in!
Okay..I slipped this one in...isn't this just precious...this is my Biggest (20lb) baby...Punkin all curled up and sleeping on my piano bench. I can't resist a sweet picture like this to share with you all....

Hope you enjoyed my little trip to out front door...have a blessed day...Lorena

Good Middle of the Week to ya (Hump Day)

First off today, I wanted to share with you out there in blogland that I will be joining Rhondi of Rose Colored Glasses as she is having a the first ever Share your Porch with others. This will be happening on June 5th, which is tomorrow. Now I don't have much of a porch...but I will show you our walk way up to our front door.

HUMP DAY...fondly known as Wednesday...(I hope this doesn't offend anyone!)
This morning as I was opening my blinds, I looked out again and saw a GORGEOUS, and I mean GORGEOUS large bushy Lilac bush in my back neighbors yard. I just knew what I was blogging about today. For those of you who know me, my roots are in the GREAT PACFIC Northwest...this gray, drizzly type of rain is known as LIQUID SUNSHINE! But that does not mean that I could not go out and take pictures of all the different plans that are in bloom...don't ya just love spring!

Okay...here's the gorgeous Lilac bush I get to see from my kitchen window! It really looks so much more vibrant in person...just could not get a good picture!
These sweet yellow buds are part of my front yard ground cover...assylum I believe.
These happy fuscha color ground geraniums come back every year...they are all around my brick pavers patio. Love them this time of year!!!
These are fluffy lavender blooms are CHIVES! If you look in the background...you can see my "Cracked Pot" collections...I know I have a bad sense of humor! lol
More of my geraniums

I just love hosta's...they have the prettiest green foilage and come back every year...more geraniums peeking thru!
These are the first blooms of my colorful daisy's that I have also around our patio walkway.

Craft Room Progress

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Saturday I awoke feeling very refreshed and ready to go. So I decided to finish cleaning out my upstairs bedroom, that I am transforming into my new Craft/Studio. I really wanted to make sure that I took before pictures, because you see, this was my first real painting project on the walls that I have ever done...about 13-14 years ago.

When we moved to this house this room was my daughters nursery. I had wanted to do a sweet theme for it. I happened to be in a craft/antique mall and saw a bathroom done up with brick wall, vines and flowers all around the room. It was my inspiration for this room. At the time, I was not doing any painting of roses like I am now. So...I did most of this free hand and used sponges. I did later go back an add bunnies, birds and topiaries when I was working on my new painting techniques...so I made sure to take pictures of these to have on my blog memories forever...or should I say for me.

I asked my daughter if she was sad to see it go and she said no...it wasn't her. Which she of course is right. Her room is now bright turquoise and orange...yes oranges and all done up in a basketball theme. It is SO HER and her sunny outgoing personality! See, I told ya, she is REALLY into basketball, lol! If she ever gets her rooms cleaned I just might snap a few pictures for you. But...I think momma is a little sad and happy all at once! Sad to see a part of our family history go, but glad to have this room to do over just for me!

This is the paint chip I am doing...in my mind, this is a robins egg blue.

Below, is a swatch of the paint on the walls. It really is hard to get a true color depiction, but I wanted to show ya what it looks like anyway!

I took pictures for different angles so you could see the wall and vines that were put all around the room, doors and window.

Now these are close ups of the sweet little bunnies and birds I painted all around the room.

So saturday I spent a couple of hours priming over all of the brick and flowers. I think that I will need to paint over the darker colors with my paint even after priming before I can do the rest of the room. I might keep going...or wait for hubby. He's so good with painting and has offered to help. Along with the walls, I have numerous storage pieces that I will be using that need a good coat of Heirloom White and then I can start putting everything back into my room. Lotsa work ahead of me. Right now everything is either piled in our other spare bedroom, or downstairs waiting to come into my room. Lots left to do, but a great summer project for me to have. I can't to get it all done...but I know I am up to it!

Oh look who just crept us and is resting on the top part of my chair...my sweet buddy Chloe..wish you all could hear her purrrrrrr~ she had the loudest purr I have ever heard in a kitty! Just love her to pieces!
