Craft Room Progress

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Saturday I awoke feeling very refreshed and ready to go. So I decided to finish cleaning out my upstairs bedroom, that I am transforming into my new Craft/Studio. I really wanted to make sure that I took before pictures, because you see, this was my first real painting project on the walls that I have ever done...about 13-14 years ago.

When we moved to this house this room was my daughters nursery. I had wanted to do a sweet theme for it. I happened to be in a craft/antique mall and saw a bathroom done up with brick wall, vines and flowers all around the room. It was my inspiration for this room. At the time, I was not doing any painting of roses like I am now. So...I did most of this free hand and used sponges. I did later go back an add bunnies, birds and topiaries when I was working on my new painting techniques...so I made sure to take pictures of these to have on my blog memories forever...or should I say for me.

I asked my daughter if she was sad to see it go and she said no...it wasn't her. Which she of course is right. Her room is now bright turquoise and orange...yes oranges and all done up in a basketball theme. It is SO HER and her sunny outgoing personality! See, I told ya, she is REALLY into basketball, lol! If she ever gets her rooms cleaned I just might snap a few pictures for you. But...I think momma is a little sad and happy all at once! Sad to see a part of our family history go, but glad to have this room to do over just for me!

This is the paint chip I am doing...in my mind, this is a robins egg blue.

Below, is a swatch of the paint on the walls. It really is hard to get a true color depiction, but I wanted to show ya what it looks like anyway!

I took pictures for different angles so you could see the wall and vines that were put all around the room, doors and window.

Now these are close ups of the sweet little bunnies and birds I painted all around the room.

So saturday I spent a couple of hours priming over all of the brick and flowers. I think that I will need to paint over the darker colors with my paint even after priming before I can do the rest of the room. I might keep going...or wait for hubby. He's so good with painting and has offered to help. Along with the walls, I have numerous storage pieces that I will be using that need a good coat of Heirloom White and then I can start putting everything back into my room. Lotsa work ahead of me. Right now everything is either piled in our other spare bedroom, or downstairs waiting to come into my room. Lots left to do, but a great summer project for me to have. I can't to get it all done...but I know I am up to it!

Oh look who just crept us and is resting on the top part of my chair...my sweet buddy Chloe..wish you all could hear her purrrrrrr~ she had the loudest purr I have ever heard in a kitty! Just love her to pieces!

Oh my!! I always wanted to do my daughters room up something like that. When my youngest son was a baby, we turned our walk-in closet into his room. It was darling in purplish blue with fluffy clouds on the walls/ceiling and a big yellow moon. Of course, now my daughter is a tomboy and my son has cowboys =) Blessings... Polly

I am so impressed with the painting in this room. It is sad but sometimes we just out grow things. I'll check back to see the finished room.
