Christmas Decorating

Well...I finally got a few of my tubs of decorations out.  I enjoy working on decorating my Living Room first.  Mostly because that's where I can use my many vintage Pink ornies I have been gathering through these past few years.  But..decorating always comes with a lot of agnst for me as well.  Do any of you see gorgeous pictures of peoples homes and then think you can do it just like that? or wonder how they do it? And then, when you take your pictures they look nothing like those you were trying to emulate.  I admit that's me.  I pour over magazines and on-line beauties that have been decorating in dreamy themes...but before I can start I feel defeated.  So with all of this said, I LOVE to decorate for the Holidays.  Really.

I put myself through so much introspection that I can soon loose the JOY and focus on this season.  I have these conversations with myself and KNOW I am NOT suppose to compare myself to others.  I'd love to have a friend come help me decorate and give me a different perspective on how I have done things in the past.  Any takers? lol Lest I let you think I am going crazy... I really do, once I finish my home, enjoy the final, FRESH New Look my home takes on.   I so enjoy the glittery lights, sparkling ornies and other pretties scattered around.

Now, things are still the same this year...hubs is awaiting to hear about a couple of possibilites for jobs and its so hard not to get discourage.  What we have saved for retirement is now having to be used to live on...continued prayers are so coveted.  This can make it even harder to get in the Christmas spirit.  I KNOW we need to get our minds off of us and really put it on Christ who is the REAL reason we celebrate.  So I will work on this as I continue on in my quest.
I may never have a home that is worthy of such awe...but its our
home and  GOD has blessed me with so much...I will try to focus on this.

I'd love to hear about how you decorate? Do you go through some of what I have described?

Okay...back to finishing up my 4ft White Tree all done up in Pinks!
(psssst, I might get a picture snuck in of it done, okay?)

Okay..above is flash on...but I like it turned off, see below the glow.
This is such a pretty Angel...I found her last year for $2!!!

Blessings...Lorena

Hi Sweetie :) I think the best way to decorate is just do what makes YOU happy. I just like the feeling of being surrounded with family mementos from Christmas's past. The Hope and Joy of Christ's birth and the love of family and friends are all that really matters anyways. Just have Fun with it ! :) Sending you many hugs, and prayers too. I know what a hard time you are going through :( I know that our Lord is clearing the way for the Perfect job for Gary :) :) Your tree is YUMMY and Sweet !!! You did a great job :) And your angel is beautiful ! Hugs :) :) xoxox :)

Hiiii sweet Lorena! ♥ ♥ ♥

I've hung your adorable cup cakes on *my* white tree and now I'm trying to get good pics. I googled for tips on taking tree pics and I didn't even know what in the world they were talking about! Ha! But your cupcakes look so perfect there and I hope to be able to show the girls soon!

You know, my dear mother taught me something very important about the holidays. She pulled them off visually perfect; Decor, cards, cookies, a meal- even a Christmas gown and jewels but she complained the whole time and was exhausted afterward. I sort of vowed never to do that. "If it ain't fun- Holly ain't doing it!"

I know that my home will never be in a parade. I do not have the energy to do it up right and still be happy and more than anything, I want to be happy- and I am! ☺

I know I won't get as many cards out as I would like or make as many cookies, etc. but what I do get done, I will enjoy and to me, that's the abundant life!

I'm so sorry you're having to use your retirement money. :(

What always helps me, is contemplating those who are worse off than me rather than looking longingly at those who seem to have more. We have a philosophy around here of "it could always be worse". sort of like Pollyanna's "Glad game". It really, really helps lift the mood and encourages us to lift the burden to the Lord.

I look forward to seeing how the Lord steers your family down the river in all this. We'll be able to look back and say, "Oh... I get it!" Hang in there sweetie! God is in control.

Hi Lorena,
I DO feel the same way. Since I'm the only one in the house that decorates I would LOVE to have a girlfriend over to help.
We have been living off of our savings for an year...God provides and I am so thankful that we have that money to use.
Yesterday and today, two different gals are asking God to help us keep things in His order during Christmas...not to focus on the "things" that don't matter. That is helpful to me...it's the people that matter not my decorations...
Your tree is lovely!
Warmly,
Deb :)

Christmas frazzles gets to me also. Since I am alone now I just can't make myself decorate they way I use to. But I do enough to please myself and you should too. I know what you mean about retirement money--

Take care --enjoy the beauty of the season in new and different ways.

Lorena, I hope this year brings good news for Gary. Most homes never look like a magazine. But my family likes it and appreciates what I do and I'm sure it's the same with your family. Merry Christmas.

Lorena, I know the feeling of "frazzle"...we all seem to feel it this time of year...they should not have Thanksgiving so close to Christmas...should we take a vote on that ?
