A LOVE Affair with Tole Art

Hi Sweet Bloggy Friends!

In past posts I have shared with you my many collections.
Today I wanted to show some of my favorite
things that I collect...tole art
also know as toleware.

Now, my Love Affair began about 12 years ago.  As
someone who was learning how to paint roses, I became
enthralled in the hand painted art of others.   I can SOOOOOO
appreciate the time and skill that those who have
painted these lovelies have put into each one.

This tray was a STEAL for $10 at on of my FAV places
in Ann Arbor, MI called Treasure Mart!  It happily
resides in my Victorian Parlor Styled Living Room.

Being and avid shopper and treasure hunter has helped me
amass the many unique shapes and sizes of trays
that I have for a fraction of what you may find them for
in antique stores.

You can see that I have found some wonderful different
sizes.  Most all of these were thrift store finds for
probably $1-2!!!

This top rectangular shapes one is my latest find!  I
am thinking that his is probably a newer version
of tole.
This tray looks to be a souvenir tray from Mt. Vernon, VA.
This is NOT a mass produced tray and is all hand painted.

This tray is very unique and if you look closely you can see that
it has a hole in the middle.  Well, when I found this tray
in a small shop in Washington state it came with a
metal holder which gave the tray
the function of a serving or tidbit tray.
These next few pictures are of *reproduced* tole ware
that have been placed on metal tins or trays but
are not actually hand painted.   But I just had to have
them because of their floral and rose content!

Below are 2 very large reproduced trays that I just adore!
These are so large that I believe they may have been
intended to use as lap trays.
The one on the right actually has
mental legs that pull down so that you could be served
in bed! Cool huh!
Then I am taking you into my laundry room where I have
hung some reproduces trays as well as some
smaller newer hand painted tole trays.

As you can see, these have flowers that are much brighter
in color from the ones I have displayed in my Living room.

So a few years back when we painted out laundry room I choose
to used these trays and well as a few well placed roosters in
here to go with the GORGEOUS Red Floral fabric I use
on my windows and around our deep tub/sink.
I just LOVE these colors on each tray!

A little about tole...

I do know that artist many years ago did not have the types
of art supplies readily available to paint on as we have today.
Metal trays were what they used to express themselves
and became pieces of art in themselves.
Tole is just another word for Metalware and
many of these pieces became useful in homes.

Next you browse ebay, etsy or other sights that
sell these beauties, you will be amazed at the
details and how beautiful these trays can be.
I know that what I have shared are are much
simpler than many you will see.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit!
Blessings

Rooster Party!

Welcome Rooster Lovers!

I am just so excited to finally be on top things in my life
so I could to join
and her Rooster Party!

Please be sure to visit Barb and check out
her side bar for other
participants.

I haven't always collected Roosters.
In fact, its only been in the last 5-7 years that I have
incorporated them into my English Country
Style Kitchen and Living Family Room.

I also was very careful and didn't want to end up with just
figurines,  I wanted to find unique Rooster Pieces
that I could display and use in many ways.
So I hope you will enjoy the many vinettes I
have created around my home
that include Roosters.

Let's Get started in my Kitchen area first.
I have a deep window area and have always LOVED
to use this area to stage my collections.
So as you can see, I have many differing rooster that
help me enjoy those mundane chores!
This large ROOSTER Platter is a Marshall's find!
Gotta love that Marshalls!
This plate below has to be my all time favorite!  There's
just something about the rich colors that make me...ahhhh!
As you can see, you must look all around this room to
see how I have used Roosters...
Look up on top of my fridge, even it has roosters.

And before I forget! We mustn't forget to look down.
I couldn't believe that I could find rugs that fit into my rooms
color and rooster scheme!
Okay, so let move on to another area.
Welcome...wont you have a seat at my pretty table full of...
Rooster goodies.  The table cloth compliments the sweet
plates that I recently found at my FAVORITE thrift store.
Got 6 of these plates for a $1 each!
Coasters that have roosters too!
Walls are next...

The carmel roosters are salt/pepper shakers.
A good friend gave me this Utensil Jar...yummy colors!
These 2 roosters nestle by my coffee makers.
Now we have arrived at my kitchen desk center...
where I have used a planter for greens...and do you see
the tiny Rose Tea Rooster?
I shared earlier this week a teapot Lamp...well
it rests upon a neat Rooster box that was given to me.
Then if I look over to my right, from my desk,
I have created this sweet vinette...a ceramic serving piece
and large rooster teapot.
Then above I have hung a tray and ceramic
pie plate above the shelf.

Here's another gift..a sweet small table cloth
with an embroidered hen and chicks.
Then we can move over to the few vinettes in my
family room.
This  lil rooster planter holds our remotes!
Then, the top of our entertainment center has this sweet
vinette...that's a lil suitcase like container...and wood rooster.

Then my last room that has touches of Roosters I'd like to
share is my
Laundry/Mud room.

On top of my Washer/Dryer is this sweet vinette.

This is actually a picture that I made using...decals!
And then I have hung a few of my rooster plates around
this room as well.

Thanks so much for visiting with me!
I certainly enjoyed sharing my home with...
can't wait to come and visit all of you there
who enjoy roosters too!

Tea Time Tuesday!

Hi Sweet Tea Loving Friends!!!

Oh I can't wait to show you my Tea goodies today!

I have made it plain and clear that for a LONG time
I have had a *thang* for anything tea.

I think my TeaPot Lamp is proof that not only
do I collect tea pots..they come in many
forms as well!

This lamp was a gift from my sister many years ago.
I have loving family that know what I love
and always know the right gifts to give me.
This lamp resides on my desk that I have
in my kitchen area!

The sweet tea cup that I have in the pix,
was one I won from a giveaway...yipppeeee me.
It has some of my other FAV flowers  all
over it...pansies!

Then...the creative side of me loves to create  sew cozies
for teapots.  I have done so off/on for many years
but had not recently made any.
...so  finally for the past few days
I got to it and have been making
Tea Cozy's!

Aren't  theses the
perfect compliment to any tea lover's collection?

I did get them listed  in my
 etsy
store if you are interested!

Have a great day my Tea Loving Friends!
