Thrifting Find ~~~ Bell Shaped Cloche~~~ But why does it have a hole on top?

Hi Sweet Friends!

Well after a horrid week of headaches and no
energy...today I awoke to jumping out
of bed and racing around to get things done.
When I get headaches they just about do me in...
allergies are the worst and here in
Michigan the molds are what get me.
So last week was a blaaaaa week for me!
We have been getting cooler temps and some
frost...so hopefully soon this will cease.

Okay,
so...I did get out last week and went to one
of my favorite thrifting places.
I found this unqiue Bell Shaped Cloche.
But am baffled because it has a
whole up the center.
Does anyone out there who just may happen
to read my blog...
have any idea why or what it is
I found?
It was a steal at $2.99

See you can see that the glass is quite thick
on top...

I'd certainly love to hear from anyone who may
have an idea of what I found!

Many thanks!
Be Blessed,
Lorena

I had one of these and it was a hurrican lamp cover. It fit over the candle base. I glued a finial to the top and it turned out cute.
Maybe you can find something to glue to the top like a big wooden ball or button or something.

It is a Hurricane that fits in a candle holder to guard the candle from being blown out by a breeze. The hole end fits down in the candle holder then you place the candle inside.
Glad to be of help.

Yes I agree it is a Hurricane lamp holder. but wouldn't it be be so beautiful with a class doorknob attached to the top with E6000 glue or a beautiful knob of some type, me I would go with something crystal, that way it would be elegant and go with anything. Love it, Lucky find! Hugs Marilou

I don't know but here's an idea... if you put something with a circle on the outside top with a finding in the center and a chain or string dropped down from it, you could hang a pocket watch of piece of sparkly anything whatchamacallit from it and display something that needs to hang. Maybe a special sparkly ornament you find at Christmas or something.

Just a thought...

Is it one of those Home Interior Decorator candle globes for sconces? You could glue some of your roses on the top & no one would ever know it has a hole!
